Shubra Palace is one of the best-known historic buildings in Taif. Sources date its construction to the early 20th century, between 1904 and 1907, and describe a building of several floors made with local stone and juniper wood. King Abdulaziz used it as a summer residence from 1932 to 1953, and later it housed government offices. Today it is a regional museum with archaeological, historical and heritage collections.
Opening hours and ticket rules change. Visitors report that parts of the palace can be closed for maintenance and seen only from outside, so check before you go.
