New Visa Program of Saudi Arabia: What Pilgrims Need to Know
The Ministry of Tourism of Saudi Arabia has launched an innovative Visa Package program that allows citizens of six countries to obtain a tourist visa as part of a single package with flight tickets and accommodation.
Which Countries Have Access to the New Program
The first phase of expanding tourist access has affected citizens of Jordan, Egypt, India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Mexico. The Ministry of Tourism plans to gradually add new countries to the program in the upcoming phases of the initiative. This decision significantly simplifies the travel planning process for believers from these regions, especially for those intending to undertake pilgrimage or spiritual tours in Saudi Arabia.
How the Visa Package System Works
The innovative system combines flight tickets, accommodation in four-star hotels, and an electronic tourist visa into one package. Travelers choose an approved package through an authorized travel agency, make an online payment, and receive the visa, insurance, and documents via email within 48 hours. Currently, two accredited agencies provide the service: Reserval and Almosafer. The process completely eliminates the need to visit the embassy or submit a separate visa application.
Conditions of Stay and Costs
The visa is a single-entry visa, valid for three months, with a minimum stay of two days and a maximum of 88 days. The minimum cost of the package is 4000 Saudi riyals per adult for the first two days, plus 1000 riyals for each additional day. The package must include confirmed round-trip flight tickets, accommodation in a hotel licensed by the Ministry of Tourism, and the electronic visa itself. Travelers can add additional services: event tickets, excursions, and entertainment programs.
Features for Pilgrims and Spiritual Tourists
Although the packages do not include services in the holy cities of Mecca and Medina, such as organizing Umrah, visa holders can freely move throughout Saudi Arabia upon arrival, including both holy cities. This means that pilgrims can independently organize their itinerary and visit the holy sites after arriving in the country. Cancellations by airlines or hotels due to unforeseen circumstances are handled according to the policies of the authorized travel service provider.
