Makkah Clock Tower Hotels Compared: Prices, Views, Ratings
A side-by-side comparison of the seven hotels in the Abraj Al Bait complex in Makkah: Fairmont, Raffles, Swissôtel Makkah, Swissôtel Al Maqam, Pullman ZamZam, Mövenpick Hajar Tower and Al Marwa Rayhaan. Stars, rooms, view types stated by the hotels, facilities, example prices, guest ratings with their sources, and who each hotel suits.

Most travellers who search for a Makkah Clock Tower hotel are really choosing between seven hotels that share one complex, the Abraj Al Bait, directly beside the Haram. They differ in size, in what kind of view a category really gives, in breakfast and facilities, and in how guests rate them. This guide puts them side by side, with a link to each hotel in our catalogue and to its official site.
A note on how to read the numbers. ZiyaraGo is an independent information service and is not a hotel operator. Ratings and example prices were checked on public listings on 15 October 2026, mostly through the Kayak aggregator, which collects scores from Booking, Agoda and other sources. They change daily and differ between platforms, so use them to compare, not to budget, and confirm the final price and the exact room category with the hotel before you pay.
The short answer: which hotel suits whom

If you want the highest Kayak guest score and a smaller hotel, look at Raffles Makkah Palace: it is an all-suite hotel with 219 suites and a 9.2 out of 10 on Kayak from 3,214 ratings. If you travel with a large group or a family and want many room categories, the biggest with a stated room count are Fairmont Makkah Clock Royal Tower (1,662 rooms per its official site; other sources give different counts) and Swissôtel Al Maqam Makkah (1,623 rooms, with family suites sleeping up to five).
For the lowest example price among the SAR rates listed (each hotel on a different date, 19 to 22 October), Swissôtel Makkah came in at 509 SAR a night, against 722 SAR for the Fairmont and 1,368 SAR for Raffles, but its breakfast is the weakest point in guest scores (3 out of 10). Swissôtel Makkah also says on its own page that it is the only property in the complex with a direct entrance from Ajyad Street, while Mövenpick Hajar Tower Makkah states that it stands directly on the Haram court facing King Abdul Aziz Gate and Pullman ZamZam Makkah gives its distance to the Great Mosque as 100 metres.
The Clock Tower complex in a nutshell
The Abraj Al Bait, also called the Makkah Royal Clock Tower, is a group of towers next to the Masjid al-Haram. Hotel pages and reference sources place seven hotels in it. Reference works such as Wikipedia assign them as follows: the Fairmont in the Clock Tower itself, Pullman ZamZam in the Zamzam Tower, Mövenpick Hajar Tower in the Hajar Tower, Raffles Makkah Palace in the Safa Tower, Swissôtel Makkah in the Qibla Tower, Swissôtel Al Maqam in the Maqam Tower and Al Marwa Rayhaan by Rotana in the Marwah Tower.
The tower names come mostly from public reference works. Sources disagree for Raffles (one press report places it next to the Clock Royal Tower), and Accor’s address for Swissôtel Al Maqam says “Tower F”, so treat the tower names as indicative. Not every hotel in Makkah with “tower” in its name belongs to the complex: the Al Safwah towers, for example, are separate buildings on Ajyad Street.
Comparison table: size, views, dining and distance
Views are quoted from each hotel’s own pages. “Partial” means the hotel itself calls the view partial. Walking minutes are the figures in our catalogue; the hotels themselves usually say “steps”, and Raffles states about five minutes on its own page.
| Hotel | Stars | Rooms | Kaaba view as stated by the hotel | Dining | Walk to the Haram (catalogue) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fairmont Makkah Clock Royal Tower | 5 | 1,662 (official site) | Signature Room Twin and Junior Suite with Kaaba view; Haram and city views | Dining options and bars, daily high tea | 6 min |
| Raffles Makkah Palace | 5 | 219 suites | Panoramic Kaaba views in the most prestigious suites | Four dining venues, in-room dining | 4 min |
| Swissôtel Makkah | 5 | 1,487 | Overlooks the Kaaba (categories not listed) | Two restaurants | 7 min |
| Pullman ZamZam Makkah | 5 | 1,315 | Full Kaaba view only in the Royal Suite; partial Kaaba view in other categories | Five outlets listed | 6 min |
| Swissôtel Al Maqam Makkah | 4 (Accor) | 1,623 | Full Kaaba view in Premier Rooms and Junior Suites | Four outlets | 5 min |
| Mövenpick Hajar Tower Makkah | 5 (official page also says 4) | not stated | Partial Kaaba and partial Haram views | Five restaurants and lounges | n/a |
| Al Marwa Rayhaan by Rotana | 5 | 550 (FAQ says 544) | Kaaba view in select rooms and suites; panoramic in the Royal Suite | Four outlets, buffet breakfast | 5 min |
Guest ratings and an example price
Ratings come from different platforms, so they are not directly comparable: a score out of 10 on Kayak or Booking is not the same scale as Accor’s 4.5 out of 5. The price column shows the lowest and highest rate listed on Kayak for one night for two guests on one date per hotel (19 to 22 October 2026, an ordinary non-peak period, so the hotels are not priced on the same night), in Saudi riyals including VAT. These figures are for ordinary dates and say nothing about Ramadan or other peak periods, so ask the hotel for your exact dates.
For Pullman ZamZam and Swissôtel Al Maqam the same listing showed prices in another currency (marked “R”), so they are not compared here; for Mövenpick Hajar Tower and Al Marwa Rayhaan, check the price on our hotel pages.
| Hotel | Guest rating (source) | Ratings counted | Example price, 1 night, 2 guests |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fairmont Makkah Clock Royal Tower | 8.8 / 10 (Kayak) | 9,376 | 722 – 4,164 SAR (check-in 22 Oct) |
| Raffles Makkah Palace | 9.2 / 10 (Kayak) | 3,214 | 1,368 – 14,545 SAR (check-in 20 Oct) |
| Swissôtel Makkah | 8.9 / 10 (Kayak) | 12,517 | 509 – 1,922 SAR (check-in 19 Oct) |
| Pullman ZamZam Makkah | 8.2 / 10 (Booking) | 5,974 | not comparable (listed in another currency, 22 Oct) |
| Swissôtel Al Maqam Makkah | 4.5 / 5 (Accor); 8.7 / 10 (Booking) | 9,166 (Accor); 3,774 (Booking) | not comparable (listed in another currency, 22 Oct) |
| Mövenpick Hajar Tower Makkah | 8.5 / 10 (Kayak, search snippet; Hotels.com 8.2) | 8,702 | see the hotel page |
| Al Marwa Rayhaan by Rotana | 9.3 / 10 (Trip.com) | 139 | see the hotel page |

- Swissotel Al Maqam Makkah Hotel, 5★ — 5 min walk

How to get a Kaaba-view room without overpaying
Check the exact wording of the category. In this complex “Kaaba view” can mean a full view, a partial view or a view of the Haram court: Pullman ZamZam, for example, lists full Kaaba view only for the Royal Suite, while Swissôtel Al Maqam lists it for Premier Rooms and Junior Suites. Ask the hotel to confirm the category name in writing and to state whether the view is full or partial.
Compare the same dates on the hotel’s own site and on one booking platform, because rates and cancellation terms differ, and look at the cancellation rule before the price. Floors are rarely stated, so do not pay extra for a floor the hotel has not confirmed.
When prices move and when to book
The example prices here are from single dates between 19 and 22 October 2026. For Ramadan, school holidays and the last ten days of Ramadan, ask each hotel for the price on your dates. Plan your dates first, then compare hotels for exactly those nights.
If you need a specific view or a family suite, book as early as the rate you are comfortable with allows, choose a refundable rate, and re-check the price a few weeks before arrival.
How we chose
We built this comparison from the hotels’ official pages, from public listings and ratings checked on 15 October 2026, and from our own catalogue, and rewrote everything in our own words. Guest feedback is summarised as themes taken from aggregator summaries. Where a hotel’s own pages disagree with each other, we say so.
Tips
- Choose by tower and entrance as well as by name: Swissôtel Makkah has a direct entrance from Ajyad Street, Mövenpick Hajar Tower faces King Abdul Aziz Gate.
- Ask for the exact view category in writing: full and partial Kaaba views are different rooms.
- Compare the same dates on the hotel site and on one booking platform, and read the cancellation rule first.
- Several of these hotels draw complaints about lift waits, so plan your departures with a margin.
- Check breakfast if it matters to you: guest scores differ widely between these hotels.
