Saudi Arabia Welcomes Record 18.5 Million Pilgrims in 2024
29 Januari 2025
In a historic achievement, Saudi Arabia hosted over 18.5 million pilgrims in 2024, as announced by the Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Tawfiq Al-Rabiah. This impressive number comprises 16,924,689 Umrah performers and 1,611,310 Hajj pilgrims.
The announcement was made during the fourth Hajj and Umrah Services Conference and Exhibition in Jeddah, which continues until January 16. The event also marked the launch of the Makkah Taxi initiative by the General Transport Center under the Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites. This service aims to enhance pilgrim mobility, with a fleet expected to grow to about 1,800 vehicles by the end of 2025.
These milestones underscore Saudi Arabia’s commitment to facilitating religious journeys and improving services for pilgrims visiting the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah.
