Masjid Al-Ijabah — One of the Oldest Mosques in Mecca

Masjid Al-Ijabah (Arabic: مسجد الإجابة) is considered one of the oldest mosques in Mecca, built around the 3rd year of Hijrah (624 CE). It is located in the Al-Muhassab area (now known as Al-Ma’abada), between Masjid Al-Haram and Mina.

According to tradition, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ prayed at this site after the Quraysh boycott in the 5th year before Hijrah (616 CE) and on the day of the Conquest of Mecca in the 8th year of Hijrah (630 CE). He also performed prayers here during his Farewell Pilgrimage in the 10th year of Hijrah (632 CE).

The mosque was built near the spot where Sayyidatuna Khadijah (رضي الله عنها) would meet Prophet Muhammad ﷺ before the start of revelations. During the Prophet's frequent retreats to the Cave of Hira, they met here, approximately halfway between their home and the cave, where she would bring him provisions.

Since its original construction, the mosque has undergone several renovations, transitioning to a modern architectural style and expanding to a size of 400 square meters. The latest restoration, completed in 1422 AH (2001 CE), included colorful marble finishes, a central dome, a minaret, and external ablution facilities for worshippers.
